Troubleshooting for a shaper post driver

You are telling people the wrong way to use the machine. I've been confused all day. Glad i read the manual, those two stabilizers are not what you put down. Thats for storage only. And you need to have that red part on the back in contact with the ground before you start banging. At least that's what your manual says in writing.

I have the HD10. It can drive a post in fast, but not straight. It always ends up kicking out away from the unit at the top. Half the time, it kicks away left/right as well. Really has high hopes for this, but it’s just not working out for me. If all you need to do is have a row of posts and you don’t care if they are perfectly straight…. This is the unit for you.

Are we related? If so, I need to borrow this. Kidding but I do need one and was surprised to see my name pop up.

I sure like my Shaver HD-10 Post Driver! I think the stump grinder is next on my list.

Bad comparison considering it only took 1 man to use the one on left and wasn’t far behind at all and the job is half the labor cost!

Ahh, the "good" old days. Did the mounting system ever get beefed up?

Both of those drivers are just fine for the occasional DIY fencing project, but neither is built for a serious fence contractor. Pretty aggravating that both Shaver and Danuser did their level best to make each other look bad in their respective comparison videos. If they are any good, let them speak for themselves. I've tried them all, and I'm sticking with my Protech....One man machine, and the posts are straight.

Shaver shot themselves in the foot with this video. Two people to run theirs. One person can do everything with the Hammer. They should have had the guy using the Hammer slow down some. He was 30 seconds from beating them. Luckily for Shaver there was a young guy picking posts up and running the pounder.

I bought a Danuser last week it is way better than I thought it would be. I don’t know about the Shaver but the Danuser is awesome.

I'd like to challenge both of the post drivers to a competition vs the Peerbuilt Dakota Driver post pounder.

the competitor was better because it was just one man operation so it was more cost-effective so even though I have a shaver the competitor to me was better

Many contractors bid fencing projects for not only landowners but fed/state agencies. These fences are inspected after completion, and I can tell you a post that is driven in like that one will not pass. Not only do you need the extra man, but the job needs done over again. So, you can add "re-do" to the list as well. I'd also venture to bet you guys are using the Hammer that has the lighter striker weight as well. You guys get a commission from Danuser? Because your video just sold me one of their post pounders.

operator running the Hammer kept fighting with ground controls. guessing he was a novice. put someone who has driven a couple of hundred posts with the Hammer 40 even without the extra weight and see how they go toe to toe... not cost effective to pay two salaries and have someone miss the safety strap and get injured. safer for a 1 man operation from inside the cab. put them on some challenging terrain too and not flat ground. add some rocky ground as well then see how they perform

Would be much better with the addition of a post hammering timer instead of messing with levers back and forth forever. Press On. Hold post.

A faster crooked post...winner???

Clearly the Hammer won that. That crooked post needs to be pulled and reset. Secondly, the Hammer can increase its speed which was not done on this video for some reason. Any case no matter how you look at it, while you are trying to pull that crooked post out, the Hammer would be on to the next.

Competitor didn't put any weight of the loader behind each hit effectively having the hitting power

you would think a manufacturer of a device like this would follow safety in making the video and attach the pto drive shaft guard properly so its not simply spinning.

What happens when the post hits a big rock in clay?

I have a SC-25 Model. It works well and is well built. I have never used anything else so I can't offer any comparisons.

I Own one and would not be with out it. worth every penny I paid for it.
